Oh the Places You'll Go

Dear Parents and families:
This week, we celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday!  Dr. Seuss would be 113 years old this year on Thursday, March 2nd..  We will be planning some fun activities for our younger students.  The older students will be participating in Read Across America.  By reading books, we hope our students will have a chance to "see" the places they will go (from the Dr. Seuss book).  While we know not every student will be attending college, we still would like to celebrate college institutions around our country.  We are asking students to sport their favorite college jersey, sweater or T-shirt on Thursday.

PBS Special Report:  We are so pleased by the PBS special that aired this weekend regarding aviation education in high school.  This video segment showed off our CTE Aviation and Internship programs and featured both FAPA and Magnolia students.  Please watch here

Last Day for Cal Grants:  March 2nd is the last day to file your FAFSA and be able to receive grant money (free money).  Click here for more information.

Senior Information:  Click here to view all the information about graduation and senior activities like Grad Night and Prom.

Priority Program Transfers:  If you are planning on changing programs next year, for example, Magnolia to FAPA, please read this important information.  If NO CHANGES for next year, please disregard.
This is the information you have been waiting for regarding Priority Program Transfer’s for returning Spring’s students. The date for currently enrolled families to have priority in transferring their student(s) to a different program for the 17/18 school year is March 22, 2017.  Families that submit transfer requests prior to that day will receive priority into the requested program over newly enrolling students. Requests submitted after that date will no longer receive the same priority status.  After March 23rd, our  intake department will start “filling seats” in all programs until capacity is reached. They will start with those currently enrolled students who have requested a program change prior to March 23rd.  After those students are placed into their requested programs, we will start placing new applicant students.

Applications for the 17/18 school year will be processed starting on February 28th 2017.  Programs will be filling up quickly. Please discuss that timeline with your families who may be considering a change for next school year.
Parents wishing to transfer their student(s) or who may have additional questions should call the Pupil Services office at (951) 252-8833. Transfer requests can only be accepted from the custodial parent/guardian(s) listed in OASIS. Please advise all families that wish to transfer that they must still sign a student agreement with their current program.
College Bound? Don't Miss the Deadlines:  For many state financial aid programs – March 2, 2017 (date postmarked).

Cal Grant also requires submission of a school certified GPA by March 2, 2017. Applicants are encouraged to obtain proof of mailing their GPA and to retain a copy of their GPA form.

For additional community college Cal Grants – September 2, 2017 (date postmarked).

If you are a non-citizen holding a Social Security card issued through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or for some other work authorization, you should fill out the California Dream Act Application found at Do NOT fill out a FAFSA.
