Greetings on this last Throwback Thursday for June 2016. Since the last email it's been a bittersweet experience depending on what side of the fence you’re on here in the UK, with a double whammy ‘Brexit' from the Euro’s politically and sports wise. Many decided to ignore this plight and “Celebrate” life like Kool & The Gang, attending a few festivals over the weekend. Firstly I’ve got to mention last Saturday’s north London Glastonbury (well not quite as muddy) Summer Soulstice. Maximum props to my ol’ club promoter dispatcher at Arista BMG Jamie Topham and his friends for the 10th anniversary mash up in Barnet. It’s an amazing feat you’ve achieved and thank you so much for inviting me to spin in the Club Tent. Ad Fab turn out that Jennifer and Joanna would have been proud of with a great atmosphere and humble thanks from moi for the love during my set in the Club Tent..That was “Something Special” like The Peech Boys. I also attended on Friday and Sunday Nile Rodgers’s Fold Fest, the very first live event at Fulham Palace. Overall having seen Chic, Alison “Alf” Moyet, Incognito and Angie Stone perform live it, was a very successful event. I literally spent the next two days hanging with the “Mahogany Soul” and “Black Diamond” high priestess Angie Stone, with a long hour interview on Monday and attending a private party Tuesday. So you know the interview is gonna be something in the forthcoming issue 65. Speaking of which we are going to the three week graphic design and print schedule 4th July so lastmin.com adverts ..hurray like a “Murray Mint. I also spoke with Alton McClain of the Alton McClain & Destiny trio who is coming over in September to reach our “Destiny” and perform for the very first time in the UK her 1970’s and early 80’s classics. For those travelling to the south coast, enjoy Hayling Island and like Rick Holmes “Remember To Remember”, Soul On The Coast next Saturday 9th in Southampton is the big one featuring myself and Dezzi D so check out the flyer in this news letter as tickets are selling quicker than the stock exchange!! If you’re one of the Wombles of Wimbledon are heading down for the tennis ..enjoy!!
The latest 10th anniversary issue is out and a 'Beadle About' featuring news reviews and interviews with Billy Ocean, Kathy Sledge, James D Train Williams, Dr James Mason, Scott James and Danny John Jules. There was no way on this "Planet Earth" that his 'Royal Purpleness' Prince Rogers Nelson was not going on the cover so we flipped the script and put his image supplied by the talented Scott Gary aka Chapter on the reverse side. The following few pages features homages to the artist 'Formally Known As' respectfully. So like JB "Please Please Please" make sure you get your copy to continue supporting us by subscribing via www.thesoulsurvivorsmagazine.co.uk.
