Our mission is to promote, maintain, and enhance Oakland's wildland parks and trails.
December 21, 2016

Thank you!

With 2016 coming quickly to a close, we'd like to thank all of our supporters, partners, and participants who've helped us accomplish so much throughout the year. We'll publish an Executive Summary for 2016 in January, but until then, here's a brief summary of our achievements for the year:

Promoting the trails...
We presented TRAILHEAD in 35 venues across the Bay Area, including screenings in Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley, San Leandro, Orinda, Walnut Creek, Moraga, and Lafayette. We also led 15 free hiking tours, guiding 386 children, adults, and seniors through Oakland's wildland parks.

Maintaining the trails...
We cleared 83 fallen trees, cleared two landslides, replaced a dozen rotten steps, improved drainage, and cut back thorny blackberry and poison oak.

Enhancing the trails...
We installed 34 new redwood steps on hiking trails, built a new foot bridge, and launched Oakland Volunteer Park Patrol, now thirty-five volunteers strong.

Funding
We've raised and spent more than $14,000 to promote, maintain, and enhance Oakland's wildland parks and trails. To ensure our continued success in 2017, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to our all-volunteer effort.

Help us protect Oakland's redwoods

Oakland Trails volunteers are teaming up with the Friends of Sausal Creek to protect the redwoods along Fern Ravine Trail in Joaquin Miller Park. Together, we will extend the rustic, split rail fence so that the redwood forest can thrive. Please CLICK HERE if you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution.
