We're dedicated to promoting, maintaining, and enhancing Oakland's wildland parks and trails.
August 26, 2017

Hello from Oakland Trails!

We're amidst our summer fundraising drive, so I'd like to start by thanking the following organizations and individuals for their generous contributions of $500 or more!
Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay
Friends of Joaquin Miller Park
Dimond Business & Professional Association

Robert Werner and Siew Chan Werner

I'd also like to thank our new tools partner: Laurel ACE Hardware.

With donation levels as low as $10, every little bit helps. We are an all-volunteer organization, needing funds only to supply our 50+ volunteers with tools and materials.

How will we use these funds? In the next month, we plan to reroute a section of lower Palos Colorados Trail that will require a substantial crib wall. We will also be partnering with BTCEB to close unsanctioned trails, and will need supplies for a new class of Park Patrol volunteers.

Free Hiking Tour on Labor Day
Join us for a hike on Monday, September 4 from Oakland's Dimond District up to Joaquin Miller Park, where we'll catch AC Transit Line 339 for a ten-minute bus ride back down to Dimond. The full hike will be approximately seven miles, but there will be opportunities to catch earlier buses at miles four and five. Click here here for all the details and to register.
Our tour route will go through Dimond Canyon and Joaquin Miller Park
Footbridge on Dimond Canyon Trail along Sausal Creek
We recently constructed a footbridge on the Dimond Canyon Trail. This project spanned an open culvert on an otherwise accessible trail, improving the creekside path for all users: hikers, mountain bikers, those with strollers, and anyone with mobility challenges.

My team! Thanks much to Henry from the Bicycle Trails Council, Luke from Park Patrol, and Ashby Lumber.
