Thank you for your interest in Oakland Volunteer Park Patrol. I want to welcome you to this informational newsletter, and brief you about "next steps".
For the last six months, we've been collaborating with several City of Oakland agencies and departments, as well as many volunteer stakeholder groups, to develop this comprehensive volunteer program. With a great foundation in place, we are currently awaiting approval from the City Attorney's Office. Once that happens, we will confirm the first group of recruits, then schedule our first training session, hopefully in late June or early July. The training for this program will take approximately 4 hours (not including CPR/First Aid Certification).
Until then, please help us by recruiting good candidates – hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and dog walkers are all welcome. There is a lot of information available at OaklandTrails.org/Park-Patrol, and a one-page brochure HERE. Please share this information with your friends and/or groups. Also, feel free to contact me personally with your questions by replying to this email correspondence.
We're looking forward to launching this program in the months to come. Thank you again for your interest!
See you on the trails,
Stan Dodson Co-founder, Oakland Volunteer Park Patrol
