LOUISIANA FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE

Our friends in Louisiana need our prayers and our help. They are in a state of emergency due to massive flooding.

How You Can Help - by August 29!

Prepare and Send the Following Items (as indicated)

Cleaning Buckets – Cleaning Bucket Kit (also referred to as “flood buckets” by some)

Health Kits – Instructions for Health Kits

Other needed items:
  • Rakes – yard rakes (No leaf rakes)
  • Box Fans
  • Garden Sprayers – 2 gallon only
  • Flat Bill Shovels
  • 25 foot Extension Cords

Bring these items to the TN Conference Office on weekdays and up until NOON on Monday, Aug. 29.

We will be loading a truck that afternoon (and need help then too!) That truck will then travel to the Memphis Conference to pick up supplies to be driven down to Louisiana.

If your church needs to drop off items on Sunday afternoon (August 28), please contact Angela Overstreet to arrange a time.

TNUMC Conference Office, 302 S. Perimeter Park Drive, Nashville, TN 37211
Phone: 615-329-1177 (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. M-F)

WHEN CAN I HELP ONSITE?
While our initial reaction to a disaster is to want to go to the affected area to provide hands-on help, UMCOR asks that volunteers hold-off on self-deployment.

If you are interested in assisting in Louisiana or Mississippi, TNUMC will be deploying teams when officials in those areas have assessed needs are ready for our help.

Please contact Angela Overstreet, angela.overstreet@tnumc.org if you would like to assist onsite in the coming weeks and months of recovery.
