Over quirked at the QT Hotel, Melbourne

Hello travellers.

Hello Melbourne!

A little surprise trip to Melbourne, brought me in contact, with the delightful Qantas Business Lounge, and the QT Melbourne. I have posted my impressions of the lounge, and first impressions of the QT Melbourne.

Everyone wants a Presidential Suite!

Sorry, this has taken so long, but I can finally reveal the delightfulness that is the Four Seasons Sydney Presidential Suite. Yes, the review has finally been written. Get a good inside gander with a truckload of photos. In fact so many, that I will need to do a separate instalment for ancillary facilities like Club and Gym.

What else happened last week?

It's a slow week in the airline industry, on the whole. The major news is the further emerging issues with the Boeing 737 Max x 2 which mean it probably won't be airborne again until 2020. I have said before that this has the potential of bankrupting Boeing, and I'm sticking to that. The FAA is going to take its sweet time, and microscopic gaze to approve this model for airworthiness, and don't even mention the hard time the European agencies will give this model before it re-enters their airspace. I'm betting some heads will roll at Boeing - soon.

If you are a visitor to Singapore and its airline's lounges, then you are in for a treat - with remodelling over the next couple of years. You can preview a couple of renders of how the various lounges, including The Private Room, will look.

Catch up on last weeks posts below. Until next week . . .

Happy Travels,

Singapore Airlines to upgrade Lounges at Changi Airport

By 2paxfly on Jul 05, 2019 10:31 am

Starting in August, Singapore Airlines will start renovating its lounges at Changi Airport. I’ve only flown Singapore Airlines once, and it was two sectors on a rewards flight from London through to Sydney Australia via Singapore. The redemption was in first, so we got to experience the interior of the Private Room. To get to […]

Four Seasons Sydney – Presidential Suite (thank you very much!)

By 2paxfly on Jul 05, 2019 06:00 am

When you get into a hotel room, you lock the door, and you know there is a secrecy, there is a luxury, there is fantasy. There is comfort. There is reassurance. Diane von Furstenberg Introduction This was our wedding night and the start of our honeymoon – which explains why we were staying in a […]

Qantas Melbourne Business Lounge – my first time [updated]

By 2paxfly on Jul 02, 2019 10:30 am

Now a separate lounge, rather than a lounge-within-a-lounge (that’s my memory of the dark clubby feel of the previous Melbourne Business Lounge). The new Business Lounge now monopolises views of the apron, leaving the Club Lounge without any (I suspect – I didn’t inspect). This is a proper lounge. It feels spacious, new, well designed, […]

QT Melbourne – first impressions

By 2paxfly on Jun 27, 2019 08:28 am

Well, there is the bunny in the bathroom to start with. The adjective ‘quirky’ is in dire straights of being overused at this property – in fact throughout the whole chain of these hotels, present in almost all Australian capital cities. This outpost of the chain is at 133 Russell Street Melbourne – so convenient […]
