Baggage Hall, Terminal T3 Sydney - Qantas

Hello travellers,

I'm again writing to you from lock-down here in Sydney. A lock-down that has just been made a little harsher if you live in south-western Sydney.

Do you remember travel?

Strange how your perspective changes. A few months ago, I was yearning for international travel and booked a trip to New Zealand as compensation. Today, I just want to be able to travel down the street without feeling anxious that everyone I pass might be a pestilence ridden member of society.

What happened last week?

Lockdowns everywhere! First Sydney's got extended, and then a 5 days lockdown in Melbourne. was announced.

Delta (the virus, not the airline) seems to be sticking around and hard to shake off, having put two states, equivalent to half the population of Australia into lock-down.

In other matters, the Board of Sydney Airport officially rejected a takeover bid; Singapore delayed any travel bubble with Australia until later in 2021 (good luck with that) and I reviewed my brief visit to Virgin Australia's Melbourne 'The Club.' lounge.

What's coming up?

I think we are in for even more lock-down announcements unfortunately, and I'm working on some overdue reviews.

Can I formally remind readers to go and get vaccinated ASAP, because if you reside in Australia, you are going to want to be ready for when these lock-downs end, and the state and international borders re-open.

Mask up, keep your distance, and don't go out unless you have to.

Stephen

Lounge Review: Virgin, Melbourne’s The Club

By 2paxfly on Jul 16, 2021 10:43 am

This was probably my one and only time visiting The Club – Virgin’s previously invite-only politicians and heads of big business lounge space at Melbourne Airport. During my visit, The Club was being used as Virgin Australia’s main lounge while the usual frequent flyer space is being upgraded. The refreshed lounge is due to open […]

COVID-19: Sydney lockdown extended to 30 July

By 2paxfly on Jul 14, 2021 01:18 pm

This comes as no surprise. The lockdown has already robbed me of my trip to New Zealand, and it looks like it will also cause me to cancel a replacement trip to Byron Bay. Oh well. Gladys-Beryl Jiklian, our premier, announced the 2 week extension this morning. Given that the daily infection numbers continue to […]
