The Westin, Melbourne

Hello travellers,

I'm in Melbourne staying at The Westin. Haven't stayed here in years, but will again. Rooms are large, well maintained and you can't beat the location. From the traffic at the Qantas lounge in Sydney and the full flight, I'd say things domestically are getting back to normal. Just with the addition of masks and social distancing.

Danger! Quarantine hotel

It's been a bad week for COVID-19 transmission between guests in quarantine hotels in three states. Perth is in a 3 day lock-down as I write.

Sounds like all those scientists warning about air flows and airborne transmission might be right!

My Match to Gold came through

What happened last week?

No update on my appeal for the repair of the broken exit door at Sydney Airport. Neither Qantas or Sydney Airport responded to my query.

Air New Zealand is offering a 4 month status match up to May 7 - which I have secured. You can extend it to 12 months by earning 100 Status Points.

If you are planning to head to New Zealand, then I have a post on what you need to do before, and what you need to plan for if there is a COVID outbreak.

What's coming up?

Sorry about the paucity of posts last week, but I have been occupied writing essays for my University studies and not for you.

Next week might also a be a bit spartan on the post front for the same reason.

Until then, mask up, keep your distance, and if you can - get vaccinated.

Stephen

AIR New Zealand: Status match – without flying

By 2paxfly on Apr 19, 2021 06:00 am

I’m not sure how useful this will be for me, but I have just applied for a status match with Air New Zealand’s Airpoints frequent flyer scheme. In line with the opening of international borders between New Zealand and Australia to form the trans-Tasman travel bubble, Air NZ is offering a Gold status match with […]
