Mapping the power of story at our annual Media Impact Forum

We had a great—dare we say our best yet—Media Impact Forum at Civic Hall in New York this week. We even managed to trend on Twitter for a few hours. How's that for a group of 150 funders? 

The theme for our annual meeting was "Mapping the Power of Story," which focused on the importance of data and networks in understanding our fields of practice—media and philanthropy and the journalism ecosystem. We examined the many different ways that stories are serving the public interest.

The Look of Silence OVEE screening & chat

More than 50 years after the 1965 Indonesian genocide, a family of survivors discovers how their son was murdered, and learns the identities of his killers. The Look of Silence focuses on the family’s youngest son, an optometrist named Adi, who decides to do something unimaginable in a society where the murderers remain in power: He confronts the men who killed his brother and, while testing their eyesight, asks them to accept responsibility for their actions. This unprecedented film initiates and bears witness to the collapse of 50 years of silence.
