2016 has officially rolled in and there has been more activity than ever happening in the club. Parts are arriving in the mailbox every day, fabrication of the suspension is well under way, and our beautiful steel chassis has begun its transformation in the character we call OgopoGO. We are optimistic that by the end of the month we will reach our goal of having a rolling chassis.
We’ve recently displayed our progress at the UBCO Winter Expo where the entire campus was able to see the OgopoGo and ask questions about her. There was significant amount of interest from people in a variety of facility’s, including some that wanted to get involved with the club next year.
A huge thanks to the team leads that came out and spent all day at the event.
We have had a very significant change of location, and are no longer located directly on campus. Our old shop, which was constructed as a temporary structure, was suddenly and swiftly banned from use by a branch of UBC management over the break without warning. This was extremely frustrating for the club, however luckily a new opportunity with the STAR (Survive and Thrive Applied Research) and the building they use became available to us. We have since moved to this location, which is approximately four minutes off campus and will supply us with a heated, secure place to continue the creation of the OgopoGO. The transition to the new shop is expected to be smooth and should not affect our construction time line.
