June 2017
As winter sets in, Three River is warming up!

Read on for the casting announcement of our major show for this year, a bit on the next playreading, a call out for productions and an update from your committee.

Three River is delighted to announce the cast of our major production for 2017: the sultry and suburban The Season at Sarsaparilla, by Patrick White.

Director Leigh Oswin was thrilled with the calibre of auditionees and obviously had some pretty tough thinking to do.

Roy Child:   Rhys Pitstock
Clive Pogson: Jan Gluszyk
Girlie Pogson:  Fiona Reilly

Nola Boyle:  Belinda Stephens
Rowley Masson:  Aaron Beck
Julia Sheen:  Fran Suitor
Ron Suddards:  Robbie Bleakley
Mr Erbage:  Antony Butchart

Needless to say, we are very excited to be bringing a wonderful script to life with this extraordinary cast and extend our thanks to all who auditioned.

We had a terrific reading earlier this month, with Stan Gottschalk and Jonathan Pedler taking us on a wonderful journey with Sam Shepard's Kicking a Dead Horse

Now we hand over to director Georgie Todman for another powerful reading.

Long before becoming respectable with the award-winning family drama August: Osage County, Tracy Letts made a 'killer' debut with Killer Joe, a deep-fried Southern noir about an even more dysfunctional and dangerous family.

'Set in Dallas, Killer Joe revels in its white trash stereotypes, and gives you permission to do the same; it's pulp fiction which has it both ways, deriving humor from dirty realism. It's slick, it's well constructed, it knows exactly where it's going." - New York Daily News

Please join us for what will be another great night at Maggie's, and, if you'd like to put your hand up to be a part of it as an actor, be sure to get in touch with Georgie.

Deloraine Drama Festival
20 & 21 October 2017
The Deloraine Drama Festival of One Act Plays is an institution in the Tasmanian theatre landscape, and Three River are looking to enter this year.  If you have a one act play which you're looking to direct/produce/star in and which may be suitable for the festival, please let the committee know!

2018 Productions
Three River is calling for submissions from directors for two possible Earl Arts Centre seasons in April and September 2018. There's a bit about our pitching process on our website, and submission forms are available by contacting the committee.  You may wish to familiarise yourself with our production history to get a feel for what Three River produces.

Just a quick update from the committee

Working Bee
Keen to lend a hand?  We're moving a bit of set hither and yon.  Our good friend, Andrew Perry at Andy's Salvage has been generously storing set items for us for some years now.  As he's moving to a new premises, we need to move our stuff along with him!  If you have a luxurious long weekend coming up and can help us out on Sat 10 June, please contact Cameron Hindrum for the details.  Many hands etc!

For Hire
Did you know that Three River has a quality mini-lighting rig for hire?  12 LED lamps, push up stands, control and all the accessories and cables - all available for hire as a job lot at super generous rates.  Suitable for small events, readings, weddings, gigs, school performances - or to supplement standard theatre equipment on larger shows.  Please contact us for details.

Next Meeting
Our next meeting is scheduled for the evening of Wed 14 June.
Please let us know if you have any ideas, thoughts or concerns that you'd like your committee to chew over.
