Interesting Picks in Software Engineering and Architecture

Tinder’s move to Kubernetes. Tinder moved to Kubernetes because they wanted to bring down the time waiting for new instances from minutes to seconds. It took them 2 years, with many challenges, mostly related to networking. Read for full insights.

Thoughtworks Technology Radar V20. Interesting things:

Just how expensive is the full AWS SDK? from a bundle size perspective. Quite expensive, so don' t be wasteful. Only import what you need.

Using Fault-Injection to Evolve a Reliable Broadcast Protocol. This is local chaos engineering. Make your code more reliable.

PySnooper - Never use print for debugging again. Declarative logging and debugging.

What's New in Tech

Accenture sued over website redesign so bad it Hertz: Car hire biz demands $32m+ for 'defective' cyber-revamp. Truly horrific events: they fire people, replace with contractors, and it turns into a multi-year failure.

Happy 30th Birthday Microsoft SQL Server. A great overview of SQL server's inception.

How Amazon automatically tracks and fires warehouse workers for ‘productivity’. We need an FCC-like organization for AI. We need systems to track what's allowed in AI.

GoCD is a continuous delivery tool created by ThoughtWorks. It’s great to see the continued progress on GoCD with the new Kubernetes integrations–and you can check it out for yourself at
