Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.
Evernote Moleskine journal. I’ve really enjoyed this purchase. Oftentimes you want to jot down notes on paper (not a computer), and this product fits the bill. Moleskine journals are super high quality, making them the ideal notebook to throw in a purse or backpack. The best thing about Moleskine is you can take a picture of your written notes and include them within Evernote. What you write will then be searchable across all your devices so you can access them anywhere. It’s the perfect blend of traditional and futuristic!
An academic coach in our district shared A.J. Juliani’s fantastic blog with me last week. Juliani writes about everything in the classroom--from inquiry to technology. His blog is perfect if you’re looking to be both inspired and informed. A good starting point is this post and this post.
There are actually three Chrome Extensions worth mentioning. The first is Google Dictionary. Sometimes I want to look up a word quickly while I’m typing, and this is the perfect way to do so. The second is TweetDeck. If you’re interested in joining live chats, TweetDeck is the way to go. Third is Giphy for Chrome. Giphy is great for finding GIFs (animated images) that can engage students in your lesson.
Tip of the week--
If you haven’t yet, check out the playlist for Three Minute Thrillers (TMTs). TMTs are created to give teachers quick professional development when and where they want it. Let me know if there’s a TMT you’d like to see. Also, let me know if you’d like to contribute a TMT of your own to be shared with everyone!
Quote I'm pondering--
"It is more important to be right at the end of the meeting than the beginning." --David Cote
