Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.
Grab an Acer or Chromebook, log into your Gmail account, and click the video camera icon near your inbox.
You may need to "accept" sharing your audio and webcam. After this, you can participate in a Google Hangout, which is just like Skype. Try having a PLC meeting via Google Hangout, or conduct a "Mystery Hangout" with another class in the district!
Blog post I can't stop thinking about--
This post is from one of my favorite blogs online, and it's about what Elon Musk is accomplishing to send people to Mars. This is absolutely fascinating. Someday we'll be sitting around explaining to young people what it was like before humans were living on another planet. Warning: There's profanity in this post.
Television show I'm watching--
Atlanta on FX. It's one of the funniest and most creative new shows I've seen in a while.
Post I'm reading--
A school principal sent this link to be: Get More Done By Focusing on Systems Instead of Goals. It reminds me of a book I read last year entitled How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Dilbert creator Scott Adams. The main idea in both the post and the book are similar: Focus on systems rather than goals. This perspective has been very helpful for me.
Quote I'm pondering--
"If you find yourself in a fair fight, you didn't plan your mission properly." - Colonel David Hackworth
