Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.
Stuff I'm learning at the 2016 CUE Conference--
- Have students turn in math homework using the Google Classroom App by submitting an image of their work. See directions here.
- Check out Web Clipboard.
- Draftback helps you quickly see the revision history of Docs. Great for monitoring students' progress.
- Ever wonder which font is being used on a website? Try Fontface Ninja.
Post I'm re-reading--
Jon Westenberg's piece entitled How to Invest in Yourself is brilliant. Make sure you read it with a notebook close by.
Movie I'm watching--
Creed, starring Michael B. Johnson and Sylvester Stallone, is a fantastic film--especially if you're into Rocky flicks. In this movie, Rocky mentors and trains Apollo Creed's son, Adonis (Creed) Johnson. Rocky's methods and wisdom really resonated with me as an educator. Not only does he instruct how to become a better fighter, he also teaches Adonis to believe in himself. Rent it tonight!
Tip of the week--
Try some of the Chrome Extensions on this post: https://goo.gl/nMmFK4. I've shared some of the listed Extensions with you before, but there are a few new ones with which you may not be familiar. It may also be a good idea to share the link with fellow teachers who aren't familiar with the power of Chrome!
Quote I'm pondering--
"Vision is not enough. It must be combined with venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps; we must step up the stairs."--Vaclav Havel
