Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.
Book I'm reading--
Learning for Leadership: Developmental Strategies for Building Capacity in Our Schools. This is a timely book for me; especially considering PBVCon is just around the corner.
Learning opportunities throughout the summer--
- Kern EdTech Summer Camp: Monday, July 25, at the Larry E. Reider Education Center: Find out more information and register here.
- Better Together: California Teachers Summit at CSU Bakersfield on Friday, July 29. Register here.
- PBVCon: August 10, 11, and 12--more information will eventually be posted here.
I've heard from three different people recently about how wonderful the Chrome Extension Print Friendly & PDF is. Teachers can visit a website, enable the Extension, and edit or delete pictures, ads, text, etc. Kind of reminds me of the now defunct Evernote Clearly Extension.
I really enjoy the song "Downtown" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, so I decided to write EdTech lyrics for the song a la Weird Al Yankovic. The goal was to get a group of people to perform it at the PBVUSD all-staff meeting at Harvey Auditorium, but alas, it was not meant to be. Because of this, I've decided to share the lyrics in today's Fiver Friday. I highly recommend listening to the song before reading the lyrics. Here they are.
Quote I'm pondering--
"Speak when you're angry--and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret."--Lawrence Peter
