Hi All!

Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.

Good music for the classroom--

I've been listening to Christopher O'Riley's cover of Radiohead songs. They are piano tracks with no vocals, which makes them the perfect background music when students are working.

Recent purchase I'm enjoying--

A couple weeks ago I bought a selfie stick on Amazon for my iPhone. A selfie stick may not seem very appealing at first, but its ability to record projects, film classroom and school activities, and build a positive culture is pretty incredible. You can click on the above link to see the one I purchased, or you can buy a two-pack at Costco.

Video of the week--

The SBAC is right around the corner, and students will need certain technical skills to successfully navigate the assessment. This video I made will show you online tools that can help students develop the necessary know-how.

Books I'm rereading--

I read John Taylor Gatto's Weapons of Mass Instruction many years ago and recently read his book Dumbing Us Down based upon Jon Corippo's suggestion. Both books are outstanding, and they'll make you think outside the box regarding education.

Quote I'm pondering--

“It's not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential.”--Bruce Lee
