Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.
Podcast episode I'm listening to--
Tim Ferriss's podcast, blog, and books have continually helped me grow personally and professionally. (I got the idea for FIVER FRIDAY from him.) A recent podcast interview Tim did with Josh Waitzkin was wonderful. They talk about everything, but there's a significant amount of time spent on education. This is perfect listening for long trips, working out, gardening, etc.
Video I'm watching--
There are a lot of great videos with John Hattie; this is one I recently watched. It succinctly explains his research in just under 15 minutes. What he shares should be required viewing for every administrator and teacher across the nation.
What's in my backpack--
I use a Topo Designs backpack that contains the following items: my Acer laptop and charger, Microsoft wireless mouse, Logitech presenter, Anker portable charger, Evernote Moleskine journal, iPad, Apple earbuds, selfie stick, pens, one mechanical pencil, 32 oz. Nalgene bottle, lunch, and various papers I need for work and class. TOSAchat also has a great slideshow of people's backpack items; let me know if you'd like to see it!
Post I'm reading--
This article by Chris Dixon has recently made the rounds in Silicon Valley. It's a fascinating read, and it hints to many changes that will occur in the field of education sooner than we think.
Quote I'm pondering--
"(People) who try to do something and fail are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed."--Lloyd Jones .....................................................................................
