Hi All!

Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.

Books I'm reading--

I finished Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon last week. It was a quick read (only took an hour), but it was packed full of wonderful insight concerning how we can be more creative. This week I finished another book by Kleon entitled Show Your Work!, which I also recommend.

Article I read this month--

I loved this post. It explains how you can read a book a week. That may sound impossible, but wait until you read the article; there's a lot of wisdom in it.

Tip of the week--

Use Google Slides! Slides has so much functionality: Use it as a work packet, embed Google Drawings, have students present their ideas, allow students to share and collaborate... the possibilities are endless! Here is a Google Slideshow I created and used to teach 4th grade students at Loudon Elementary last week.

What I'm watching--

This YouTube video by Simon Sinek is incredible. In only five minutes, Sinek explains the importance of having a common "Why". Try pairing this video with a blog post I wrote entitled Heroic Change.

Quote I'm pondering--

“What gets measured gets managed.” – Peter Drucker, management theorist, recipient of Presidential Medal of Freedom
