Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education. I attended the Lead 3.0 Symposium last week, so this Fiver Friday is heavily influenced by the experience.
TED Talk I'm watching--
Sir Ken Robinson was the keynote speaker at Lead 3.0. He's written three books about education--which you can find here, here, and here--and he's world-renowned as a TED Talk speaker. I highly recommend you watch his TED Talk--he shares wise and inspiring insight.
New on the horizon--
Superintendents across the nation are taking the pledge to become Future Ready. This pledge is a first step in getting our country's districts ready for the challenges we face today and in the future. PBVUSD has taken the pledge--take a look and learn about this exciting new initiative.
Tool I'm checking out--
The CEO of Scrible attended Lead 3.0 and shared his new product. Basically it's a combination of an LMS, EasyBib, and a Chrome Extension with Google Classroom integration. Check it out if you're feeling adventurous!
New venture I'm pondering--
Podcasts are popular right now--and they're getting really popular in the world of education. In a Lead 3.0 session I learned of an easy way to create podcasts. The app is called audioBoom, and you can use it to record and distribute your own podcasts right from a smartphone! This could be a great tool for both principals and teachers who want to tell their schools' stories and discuss all things edtech. Check it out!
Quote I'm pondering--
"He who ignores the law of probabilities challenges an adversary that is seldom beaten."--Ambrose Bierce
