Hi All!

Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education. This will be the last FIVER FRIDAY of the school year. I may send a FIVER FRIDAY here and there throughout the summer when I find interesting things worth sharing, but the regular posting will start back up again in late August. Have a wonderful summer!

Investment Company I'm using--
I'm definitely not a financial expert, but I think we can all agree on the importance of starting nest eggs early. Vanguard is the investment company I use for my 403(b). This summer is a perfect time for educators to start saving if they haven't already!

Book I'll be reading this summer--

Warren Buffett said The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham is "By far the best book on investing ever written." That's high praise--especially coming from Buffett. I just started reading it, and what I like is its focus on what an investor's mindset should be. By no means is this a "how-to" book; rather, The Intelligent Investor teaches you how to correctly think about how to handle money. As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I'll be pairing this book with Alexander Hamilton over the summer--one of our country's most brilliant financial minds.

Book I'm anticipating--

The follow-up to Alice Keeler's popular 50 Things You Can Do with Google Classroom has been completed. If you're interested in being notified when this book is released, you can fill out a Form here. This book could be a great way to kick-off next school year with practical ideas for creating student centered classrooms.

Something I'd like you to ponder--

I've really enjoyed making Three Minute Thrillers this school year. However, I'd like to change things up a bit. I think Three Minute Thrillers would become a lot more powerful if they were created by teachers and administrators across the district on a continual basis. This summer, think about a Three Minute Thriller you could make regarding Google Apps for Education that would build capacity in our school district. The fact that you've subscribed to Fiver Friday, opened this email message, and read all of these words means you're the perfect candidate for being a Three Minute Thriller collaborator.

Quote I'm pondering--

"Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence."--Abigail Adams

Have a great summer!
