Here’s your weekly dose of FIVER FRIDAY, a list of what I've found useful or informational this week concerning education.
Helpful purchase I'm planning to make--
The Grid-It Organizer looks really helpful. It provides a convenient way to organize all things digital, including your phone, ebook, and tablet chargers; flash drives; laptop accessories; ear buds; and more!
Many teachers are having success using FrontRow in their classrooms. FrontRow used to be primarily for math, but now they've ventured into ELA. Check out their new Article Series.
Videos I'm watching--
I was recently introduced to the work of Lee Jenkins. This 12 minute video by Jenkins describes how ineffective systems give students "permission to forget". Try pairing this video with Deming's PDCA Cycle.
Website I'm using--
Duolingo has been a lot of fun for learning Spanish. You can access Duolingo on your computer or phone and make daily goals as challenging or easy as you'd like. Right now I have a goal of 10 minutes a day for learning Spanish. I'm hoping 10 minutes every day over the course of a year adds ups to a lot of progress!
Quote I'm pondering--
"One cannot solve problems with the same mindset that created them." --Albert Einstein
