Weekly Focal Point
"Without patience, we will learn less in life. We will see less. We will feel less. We will hear less. Ironically, rush and more usually mean less."

~Mother Teresa~

"I want it and I want it now!" These are the words of Veruca Salt in the original Willy Wonka movie. For a lot of us, these are our own words before getting sober and even after getting sober. We, as addicts and alcoholics want immediate results. When we were in active addiction we knew that the solution to our problems could be experienced instantly. We tend to look for the same results in different forms once we have entered into the world of recovery. The truth is that nothing happens over night in the world of the Spirit. The road to recovery is a long one and but well worth the diligence. In time, each promise will come to fruition when we put the steps and principles to the test one day at a time. We learn over time to be patient by trusting the process and remembering that outcomes and results are best left to the timing of our Higher Power.
Questions for Our Consideration
1. What spiritual principles do I need to practice when I am seeking patience in my recovery journey?

2. Have I taken a moment to acknowledge all of the hard work I've done so far? Do I give credit to my Higher Power and internalize that I have not been brought this far on my own power?

3. What is my attitude like when I don't get what I want?
