Weekly Focal Point
"They have appear to be in nature of huge emotional displacements and rearrangements. Ideas, emotions, and attitudes of these men are suddenly cast to one side, and a completely new set of conceptions and motives begin to dominate them."

~ Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous ~

Design for Living

Following the footsteps of those who have come before us in this program of action, we in recovery find it necessary to live our lives based on a new set of ideas, emotions, and attitudes. In active addiction we were often the victims of our own misguided resentments or crippling fears. When we begin to practice the disciplines of recovery, there is an opportunity to start life anew. Most of us felt relieves when we were encouraged by the idea of progress rather than perfection. On the other side of inventory and amends was a set of tools for living that would carry us for a lifetime. They have ultimately led us to a life of service and afforded us one sober day after another. A life filled by self is a miserable one. Once we are given a taste of the freedom this process can bring, we continued to take action and were rocketed into the fourth dimension of existence. But it doesn't stop there! Each day we utilize the spiritual tools is a day we have the chance to grow in effectiveness and understanding. What better vision to pull the newcomer with than a life of abundance that has no end?
Questions for Our Consideration
1. Am I bringing a healthy attitude into each new day? Does my attitude reflect the spiritual principles of the program of recovery?

2. Are old ideas still prevalent? If so what am I doing about it?

3. Where am I currently agnostic? What parts of my life do I still feel hesitant about turning over to my Higher Power?
