Lakeshore Ridge...Because Everyone Belongs
Empower Simcoe is building a home called Lakeshore Ridge for people with multiple and complex needs. In consultation with several community partners, the people who will call this home will have a specialized care plan, and a community of support that understands them with the skills needed to help them reach their full potential.
Lakeshore Ridge is in the township of Oro-Medonte, a beautiful rural area west of Orillia. It will be a safe, secure residence, and with your help, it will have all the comforts of home.
Empower Simcoe needs to raise $250,000 by Spring 2022 to finish Lakeshore Ridge. We’re building the structure, but now we need your help to make the house a home. Your donation will help us purchase furniture, bedding, décor, landscaping, and more. Please give generously to help complete this vital community project.
If you donate by October 15th, your gift will be doubled. A generous group of donors will match all donations to the Empower Simcoe Foundation’s Lakeshore Ridge Building Fund up to a maximum of $25,000. That means your gift of $25 becomes $50, $50 becomes $100, and so on. If you’re able to make a gift, please do it before October 15th.
Click on the button below to donate using your debit or credit card. For other ways to donate or for more information, please contact Empower Simcoe Foundation Donor Relations Coordinator Doug Cleverley at 705-726-9082 x 2285, or email

Empower Simcoe's Believe In Yourself

The Empower Simcoe Believe In Yourself Committee provides a voice for people receiving support from Empower Simcoe, as well as a forum in which to discuss concerns and to share opinions about rights issues.

Beginning with this month's Meaningful Life issue, the Believe In Yourself Committee will share updates and member profiles on the ongoing work they're doing to educate and advocate on behalf of people of all abilities in our community.

Please meet Empower Simcoe Believe In Yourself Committee Member Mike Hardy, pictured above.

"Hi, my name is Mike   I live in my own apartment by myself.  I have been supported by the Empower Simcoe Simcoe Supported Independent Living program for a long time.  I am a new member of the Believe In Yourself Committee and we just had our first meeting of the year on September 14th.  I'm excited about being a Committee member and look forward to many more meetings sharing my ideas with the other members.   When I am not busy with Committee meetings, I like to spend my time playing video games on my PlayStation 3 and Xbox."

The Great Empower Simcoe Dance-Off
There’s no party quite like Empower Simcoe’s Celebrating Community Champions Fashion Show. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has kept us from safely hosting the Fashion Show again this year. So, instead of bringing you to the party, we’re bringing the party to YOU, our friends and supporters.
This year’s fall fundraising event is called The Great Empower Simcoe DANCE-OFF! It starts with an online silent auction starting on October 14th. Then on October 21st at 7:00 pm you can join us online for this livestreaming special to see some of the people we support show off their best dance moves to their favourite tunes. You’ll have the opportunity to show your support with a donation and enjoy a few special moments you won’t see anywhere else. This lively and FREE event will be hosted by our very own Allison Bobbette and Jamie Hall.
Register in advance for a chance to win a $250 gift card from Bradford Greenhouses and Garden Gallery! Check your email for a registration link in the next few days.
