Swindon Sports Forum Event - Thursday 30th June 2016

The Swindon Sports Forum are pleased to invite you to their next event which will be taking place on Thursday 30th June 2016, from 6.30pm to 9.05pm. The event will be taking place in The Sponsors Suite at Swindon Town Football Club, County Road, Swindon, SN1 2ED.

This event will consist of short updates on the Sports England Sports Strategy, along with updates on sports development within Swindon’s colleges.

The meeting will also contain a seminar from Club Matters on Developing a Marketing Plan for Your Club.

Swindon’s Oldest Community Event Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Boost Funds

Organisers of Swindon’s Children’s Fete, which this year celebrates its 150th Anniversary, have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the event.

Up to 10,000 people are expected to attend the event this year, which will include fairground rides, music, dance, food stalls and a bar, in the GWR Park on Faringdon Road on Saturday 9th July. Those who donate to the campaign will receive free fairground ride tickets.

The Mechanics’ Institution Trust, which organises the event, has been awarded a grant by the Big Lottery to cover the core costs but they need to raise more money to help celebrate the special anniversary.

With just a week to go until the end of the crowdfunding campaign its never too late to make a donation.

Swindon Advocacy Movement Logo
Swindon Advocacy Movement are recruiting an Independent Support worker. The successful candidate will have an understanding and experience of, and empathy with, the issues facing children and young people with SEND and their families.

The posts are for fixed-term contracts to run until 31st March 2017 with anticipated extension until 31st March 2018. The posts are part time working 16 hours a week.

Closing date for applications is 1.00 p.m. 23th June with interviews being held on Thursday 30th June.

Celebrating services for older people in Swindon

Bluebird Care Logo
Come and find out about services for older people in Swindon and learn how to stay safe, secure, healthy and independent in your own home.

Organised by Bluebird Care, this free event will feature stalls and displays from a range of charities and organisations working with and for older people. The day will be about celebrating older people and their contribution to society. In addition to the many stalls, visitors will be able to enjoy music from local pianist Lisa Williams and the Cantanti Choir. Refreshments will also be available.

TWIGS Summer Open Day

TWIGS will be holding their annual Summer Open Day on Sunday 19th June from 11am to 4pm at their community gardens in Cheney Manor, Swindon, SN2 2QJ.

Entertainment will be provided by "Dave and Ewe the Mobile Farm" and Music Alive and many more children's activities.

Admission is just £2 for adults, £1.50 for concessions and free for children.

Charity Cricket Match

Rotary Club Logo
The Rotary Club of Swindon will be hosting a charity cricket match on Sunday 19th June to raise money to help beat polio worldwide.

The match will see a Isambard Kingdom Brunel XI, captained by Hamish Marshall, take on a Daniel Gooch XI, captained by Jon Lewis, at the home of Swindon Cricket Club.

This game will be proceeded by a junior twenty twenty game with Gloucester select XI taking on a Swindon select XI.

Tickets are available in advance or on the day with prices from as little as £3 for juniors/concessions, £5 for adults with VIP tickets priced at £20.

Blagrave Trust Feedback Fund

The Blagrave Trust Logo
The Blagrave trust are pleased to announce the launch of a new small grants fund. The fund called the Blagrave Trust Feedback Fund aims to support improved listening to, and learning from, young people.

Small grants are available of between £1,000 and £4,000 to assist organisations in Berkshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Wiltshire and Sussex that work with young people aged 11 – 25 to carry out projects gathering feedback from service users or advancing work in this area.

The deadline for applications is 31 July 2016.
