Spring-Clean Your Charity Finances and Strategy

The beginning of the new financial year is the perfect time to reassess your strategy and finances.

Opting In: RNLI’s Bold New Fundraising Strategy

Volunteer Mentors Needed Today!

The SMASH Youth Project's mission is to give children and young people the chance to become everything they can be, sometimes when no one else believes that they can.

SMASH's next training course for volunteer mentors will begin in June and they are aiming to recruit 10 new mentors before then.

Cancelled: Disability Awareness Day

Unfortunately the Disability Awareness Day which was due to take place on 16th April at Uplands School (and was previously advertised in VAS id) is now cancelled due to lack of interest (attendees).

Lorna Breslin and Tim Mason from the Rotary 1100 e-club would like to thank everyone who had volunteered to give up their time to make the event happen , guest speakers , stall holders, helpers, and to Justin Tomlinson MP who was going to open the event.

They do intend to run a Disability Awareness Day sometime in the near future - we will keep you informed.

Upcoming Events

Spring Open Day at TWIGS

TWIGS Community Gardens are holding an open day on Sunday 17th April, 11am-4pm. Celebrate the arrival of Spring with a chance to enjoy TWIGS' blossoming gardens and opportunities to purchase home grown plants and handmade crafts. Refreshments are available at the Olive Tree Cafe.

Swindon SOUP

The third Swindon SOUP will take place on 21st April, 6.30pm – 8pm at Arclite House, SN5 5YN. Once again, three community groups in Swindon will be presenting their ideas and hoping to win your support.

SOUP is a community micro-funding initiative supported by Excalibur and Hospitality 247. Not-for-profit groups come along, tell community minded people and businesses their big idea. The winning group walks away with instant funding towards their project but everyone pitching gains valuable contacts and assistance.

If you’re considering pitching in future for your organisation, why not come along and learn before you try.

Swindon Sports Forum: Where Are We Going?

The Swindon Sports Forum steering group would like to invite your sports club to the next Swindon Sports Forum meeting. The aims of this important meeting are to inform local sports clubs of the likely impact of new national and local sports policy, to discuss what support clubs need to maintain current levels of participation, and how clubs could think about increasing membership and funding in the future.

Funding Opportunities

Playing Fields Legacy Fund

Revenue and capital grants of up to £10,000 are available to improve playing fields and encourage more people, especially the young and disadvantaged, to participate in outdoor sport. Applications may be made at any time.

Children in Need: Main Grants Programme

Grants over £10,000 are available for not-for-profit organisations working with disadvantaged children and young people aged 18 years old and younger living in the UK. The next application deadline is 15th May 2016.
