November Newsletter

November 16
Fellow Arrowmen:

Thank You to everyone who was able to make it to the November Chapter Meeting this past Monday. It went off great with 202 participants present. This is a great start for the year and let's try and keep this up. The chapter works hard to make sure each meeting is a lot of fun and we will continue to get the best programs for each meeting so please try to promote as many events as you can to keep the attendance up.
At the meeting many people were able to get their brotherhood cards and
Arrowman Service Award Patches signed. The ASA patches will be available up until December 31, 2015. If you are interested in getting the pocket flap or sash patch they are at all OA Chapter and Lodge events along with the ability to purchase the patches at these events as well.

ASA Adult Card: (
During the meeting we discussed several different programs. The Camp Promotion Program has changed focus to chapter events rather than individual troop promotion, although troop will still be able to promote if they want. This means that we really want to see high attendance at chapter events so everyone can see a promotion.
Our Troop Rep Program this year is still growing, many troops still need to have a Troop Rep signed up with the chapter. The Troop Rep program is important as it allows for the chapter to have multiple contacts for each troop and for the youth to be informed directly as well. If your troop does not have a Troop Rep signed up yet or you do not know if one is signed up yet visit the chapter website and register so we can contact them throughout the year. Visit the website at ( to sign up and remember that the Troop Rep position is a requirement towards brotherhood.

Dues Rollout
This year the Shawnee Lodge is implementing membership dues. The point of the dues will help drive down costs at OA events, avoid paying for arrowmen who are no longer a active with the OA,and ensure that contact information is correct and being updated regularly. The set cost with year of 2016 will be $10. Registration can be done Individually or by Troop. Individual Registration can be done online at or at West Pine. Troop Registration is completed at December Roundtable or at the West Pine Office. Bring a Check to December Roundtable to register there or pay at the West Pine Office. Your BSA ID number will serve as your Lodge membership number and will be required to register at all Lodge events.

3 Exceptions to Paying Dues:
  1. New Ordeal Members will receive the remainder of the year (2015) plus another year (2016) as part of the citation fee paid at induction
  2. New Brotherhood Members from the prior Fall Reunion or Spring Conclave will receive the next year dues, as they already paid for the current year, as part of their Brotherhood fee.
  3. Financial Burden-If you feel this fee will cause a financial burden the Lodge Chief, Lodge Advisor, and Lodge Staff Advisor can grant a reprieve of dues for you for the subsequent year.

Season Pass:
A limited number of season passes, for the first year will be offered to lodge membership. For a flat fee of $40 it will include the following:
  • One Year of Dues
  • Arrowman Experience Admittance
  • Spring Conclave Admittance (food ticket requires $5 upgrade)
  • Fall Reunion Admittance (food ticket requires $5 upgrade)
  • Winter Fellowship Banquet (End of the Dues Year)

Please Promote this at Troop Meeting and make sure to register for the year. If you have any questions please contact the chapter officers.
Social Media
New Horizons has many different forms of communication though Social Media and the Website. This Year the chapter is working hard on updating these forms of communication constantly and sending out notifications this way. Some of these accounts are new but they are all used frequently and in order for them to be effective, please promote all of these to your Troops.
