Meet us at GreenTech, June 14.-16. 2016 and at the AVF Summit on June 12 in Amsterdam. During GreenTech you can find us in the Vertical Farming Pavilion at booth no 410Q. If you are interested in a personal invitation, please let us know!
In May 2016 CAU FUTONG opens the ‘The 6th Tongzhou International Urban Agricultural S&T Festival’ in Tongzhou park, Beijing. The festival is to share resources of agriculture, display the plentiful fruits of agricultural development and to promote the communication among agricultural sectors.
We are very proud, that our aponix aeroponic barrels will be shown as a kind of new component for vertical farming there.
The new version of our 1/6 part has been upgraded with many improvements of the last 2 years of testing and feedback. Improvements have already been transferred into an upgraded 3D design enabling aponix to also move into the next level production tooling soon.

Upgrades include: Easier handling, more precision, faster and more reliable assembly and probably the most revolutionary feature - the barrel will be usable alternatively with simple drip irrigation and vertical flow of water instead of a pressure line (aeroponics).
PCT application of our German patent has been filed. We are now in the position to give international licenses.

The independent governmental horticulture research facility 'Staatliche Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Gartenbau (LVG) Heidelberg' starts testing 3 promising components from the urban farming / hydroponic field. One of the systems is the aponix aeroponic barrel.

In summer our own testing facility is moving from the underground into a real greenhouse.
Check out Marco's interview with Avinash Burra from Green Millenium where they talk about the origin of the aponix aeroponic barrel, how Marco (inventor of the aeroponic barrel) got into urban farming and what the challenges were.

Not being originally from the food or horticulture industry, Marco could ask the question 'How would I do it, if I could reinvent the existing organic food value chain.'

Vertical Modular Growing Component

The aponix aeroponic barrel can be used as growing device in an existing liquid nutrient cycle for high density growing.

A barrel can be assembled using our simple and compact elements. The available vertical growing space determines the number of growspaces in one a barrel. For each 15 centimeters of added height 12 additional growspaces are provided as 2 inch netpot inserts.
Multiple barrels can be connected providing >60.000 grow spaces on a 1000 sqm plot.

Barrels can be rotated . Hanging and standing versions are available. Currently each barrel is powered by one top spray nozzle. The next version will be flexible using either aeroponics or just liquid running down the inside from the top lid practically turning the barrel into a giant vertical 'NFT'.
