Presidents Welcome

As I start my year as President for the JCI Illawarra Chapter I am excited for the opportunities that lay ahead in 2016. This will be the eleventh year for the Illawarra chapter and what a year it will be.
Our chapter has had a fabulous history of young citizens making a great impact in the Illawarra community and beyond including the establishment of the ‘Soar Above’ project to support young women with personal health products in the Supported Accommodation & Homelessness Services Shoalhaven Illawarra (SAHSSI).

With such success since establishment, it provides the opportunity to take stock and review foundations for the long term successful future of the chapter. This will be undertaken while continuing to provide opportunities for our members to expand their skills through programs such as MentorMe, attending training and events to provoke meaningful discussion and potential solutions to local issues. In doing so we’re committed to equipping members to give back through volunteering and putting their learnings into action.

I see JCI Illawarra as a platform for young active citizens in the region to be empowered by to make a positive change locally through current opportunities by creating new ones. Given our diversity in the region these opportunities could have a global outlook or linkage.

I am proud and equally excited to be part of a sound and robust board of Directors, and the Illawarra chapter will only continue to achieve success for its members and the wider community. We will achieve success, through regular and clear communications, hosting social and professional networking sessions, training and providing members volunteer opportunities to expand professional skill sets and become active citizens.

Our calendar is filling up with our own activities and events as well as our partners, so stay in touch through Facebook and LinkedIn and I hope to see you all at our first event on Monday 7th March at Humber.

I look forward to working with you all in 2016.

MentorMe 2016

The JCI Illawarra 2016 Board would like to announce that we are once again running MentorMe Illawarra.

This structured one on one mentoring program is designed to establish links between experienced professionals within the Illawarra and JCI Illawarra members.

The program will help members who are seeking guidance on their career journey and opportunities for their professional development. This is achieved by the collaboration between mentors and their mentees as they share their wealth of experience and help drive young professionals and the future leaders of the JCI Illawarra community.

With a host of local business leaders already expressing interest as Mentors this is an amazing professional development opportunity. We will be sending out further details in the coming weeks so keep an eye out!
