Hi <<First Name>>
This is your July newsletter

From the President’s Desk
What a start to the year! It surely has been a busy one…
30 March / 1 April saw JCI Illawarra host the National AGM, it was an immense success with informative and thought provoking development sessions Phil Prestons of the Collaborative Advantage, and Natalie Viselli 2015 JCI Executive Vice President Asia and the Pacific. We were also honoured to have Ryoma Koyama 2016 JCI Executive Vice President Asia Pacific, providing us with the Global JCI insights and giving us the inspiration of the Peace if Possible campaign. Amongst the formality saw friendships made and others catch up between JCI Melbourne, JCI Eastern and JCI Sydney. Along with the fun, we hosted a Trivia night, all funds raised were in support of the Strategic Communities Assistance for Refugees Families (SCARF). We launched a project idea of working with SCARF to create a recipe book, “the stories behind the food”. Food brings people together, people coming together build communities, combining the two = stronger communities. Interested in making this project happen? Get in touch:
MentorMe 2016 in in progress and launched with great success. We will shortly be hosting the midway check in on the 29 July. I cannot quite believe we are at this point in the program already, I am looking forward to catching up with both Mentors and Mentee to hear about their journeys thus far.
TOYP (Ten/Top Outstanding Young Person) – JCI Illawarra nominated Adam Everill, CEO of Equal Playing field, a non-profit organisation that focuses on reducing domestic violence women in the PNG communities. We are excited to say Adam is now a JCI Australia TOYP Honourees for 2016, we wish him luck for the next stage in the program.
If you thought the beginning of 2016 was busy, the run up to the end of the year seems just as busy if not busier! We have some professional development in the planning stages, and JCI Training sessions. We are proud to be a part of the region’s largest community event “Spring into Corrimal”– Sunday 11 September, working with the Corrimal Business Chamber. Interested in getting involved Get in touch:
Lastly, you will see the request to take part in the member’s survey, please take the time to complete, as it’s only with your feedback JCI Illawarra can guide the right direction and opportunities for our members.
Until next time, take care,
Sarah Lisle

May saw the launch of MentorMe by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Illawarra . The program, initially developed by JCI Illawarra members as a pilot in 2011 is an intensive program designed to upskill up and coming professionals of the Illawarra by partnering them with business professionals and leaders in the Illawarra.
Last month saw the launch of MentorMe 2016 which connected 18 young professionals with Mentors representing over a dozen industries including accounting, law, journalism, social services, community engagement, and many more. The relationship between the mentor and mentee built over the 12 week program, sharing experiences, and knowledge to enhance the mentee's wisdom to create positive change to use throughout their future careers.
JCI would like to thank all of our Mentors for so generously donating their time to assist in the development of tomorrow’s business leaders through JCI Illawarra.
