Welcome to the August news for the Region and a special welcome to those receiving this for the first time.

Shows/Events 2016.

Early August was busy with shows including Shugborough Hall and the Classic Car Show at Attingham Park in aid of Severn Hospice. We have some pictures of our stand at Attingham Park where our Jaguars were next to the Panthers.  There are also some pictures of other Jaguars of interest including the XJS TWR replica and a rather fine red E-type series one from 1966 which were at this event. Our own stand displayed mainly XKs and it would be good to see a wider selection of Jaguars on display at this and other shows next year. Those members present considered the desirability of allowing owners of other JLR products to join our Region. This is of course a matter for the local committee. Our BBQ had not taken place at the time of writing, a report will appear next time.

We are moving towards the end of the show season but this will give us an opportunity to enjoy a Sunday lunch or two plus maybe a Christmas meal and possibly a new year function. The new year event is being arranged by Kay Searles. More information at a later date. If you would like to suggest a venue for a Sunday lunch or organise something, please do so. I will gladly publish details here.

I recently visited the Coventry Transport Museum. I know some members have been but it is well worth a visit and the many Jaguars on display are now in a revised setting. You could easily spend half a day here and entry is free! My picture shows a 1939 Austin K2 fire engine as used in Coventry during the blitz in 1940. The example on display then went to Jaguar, where it was used as the works fire engine in the late 1950s.
I recently attended a show where this was possibly the most interesting and valuable car on display. It is the first E-type to win a race as driven by Graham Hill at Oulton Park in April 1961.

Alternatively go straight to the pub. Please book you table in advance (01952 740238).
