Jesper on behalf of the LiU Game Jam organizer group here. Spring is here and has brought with it sunshine and flowers... Or at least so I've been told, I have not really been outside and my bunker lacks windows. Anyway, the zombie apocalypse is still going on so next jam is remote over Discord. Hopefully the fall jam can be arranged as a physical event but we'll see.

At Tuesday the 20th April is our first ever Syltprovning (jam tasting) event. See if you can bring a friend along who is curious about what a game jam is!

Before the jam we are going to host a get-together event on Discord, the event is aimed at both old game jam foxes and new potential jammers.

The event will be composed of a short presentation where we present what a jam is, how our jams work, and what one can achieve during a jam. This will be followed by some play testing of old game jam games while chilling and talking about game jams, games, and all sorts of things.

The event will take place in this Discord and all you have to do is join in when it starts. See you then!

Spring Game Jam 2021

A game jam is an event where programmers, artists and gamers come together and create games; both computer games and board games. We are going to follow the same structure as our physical jams so please be online in time so you can participate in the theme generation, brainstorming and group forming. Only difference is that the salt sticks and pizza will be provided by yourself.

How to participate

Make sure you have a working microphone as this will make it easier to brainstorm and jam with the other jammers.
Join the LiU Game Jam Discord server.
Create an itch.io account and join the Spring Game Jam Linköping 2021 jam page.

Friday 7th

- Pre-jam chill on Discord.
18.00 CEST
- Introduction Stream.
- Theme generation from submitted theme words.
- Brainstorming together with other jammers on Discord.
- Team forming.

Saturday 8th

18:00 CEST
- Half time review on Discord.

Sunday 9th

18:00 CEST
- Ending stream on Discord.
- Game Jam deadline to upload result to Itch.io.
- Playtesting together with other jammers.

Write game jam history

We have started to collect all games made during our game jams on Itch.io. It is an impressive collection but it is only a fraction of all things we have created together.

Hence we encourage you to upload your old game jam projects to itch.io and send us a link to them.
