Something Wicked This Way Comes...
Welcome to the Winter Night Games 2017 Newsletter! This is going to be a big one, so strap in!
Whoah. What a year. We had several moving parts happening at the same time over the course of 2016 and we have arrived at a pivotal juncture at Winter Night Games. We seem to be at the precipice of releasing our first major title! We wanted to give everyone a brief rundown of what all occurred last year and to give a quick status update on each of our projects. So, without further ado:
What did we accomplish with the video game project?
ZACK: We announced our original point & click adventure game, Arkhangel: The House of the Seven Stars in late 2015 with the following teaser:

We're very excited to have made great strides last year which culminated to an official ALPHA status in early 2017! All major systems, characters, and locations are all in place, most major puzzles have been locked in, and you can play the game from start to finish (although, you'll probably break a lot of stuff)! Hell, we even bought a server dedicated for development on the game! It's like we're a legit game company or something! WEIRD.
I look back to all of the time spent looking at script files, painting textures, banging my head on the keyboard when I couldn't get an animation to look right, and I take a deep breath. We still have so much more to do, but we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
What's next for the video game project?
Polish, polish, polish! The coming months are going to consist of nailing down final text/dialogue, finalizing minor features, coming up with more puzzles, creating a slew of cinematics, recording the score with the phenomenally talented music composer Chad Seiter, squashing a ton of bugs, setting up gameplay/story trailers, getting online distributors/stores ready, trying to figure out how to do PR for this thing, and prepping for final release!
As of right now, we are looking to release Arkhangel: The House of the Seven Stars in December of 2017.
Let's go exploring.
What did we accomplish with the tabletop project?
JOSH: 2016 saw the completion of design for our upcoming tabletop experience entitled: The Great Nameless! In TGN, you assume the roles of various gods who reside in their own unique realms. You work with players to shore up your defenses against the forces of The Great Nameless or you work against them to ensure your victory by engineering their defeat. Design work started on TGN back in August of 2014, with constant and intense play-testing and revision all throughout 2015. We've had play-tests in Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, Arizona, and Washington. If you have a favorite gaming convention, let us know and we'll see if we can't meet you there to show you a prototype!
The Great Nameless is not only fully designed, but fully illustrated as well - all art is in a finished state. We have a few prototypes for demo purposes and we are investigating the process of crowdfunding in order to begin manufacture.
What's next for the tabletop project?
CROWDFUNDING!! Manufacturing costs for a tabletop product can be intimidating, but we live in exciting times where the very customers we are trying to reach play an integral role with the creation of the products they play.
We want to both thank you all for the continued support while we go through this journey. We still have a long ways to go with these projects, but it's been a labor of love and we're excited for everyone to finally get a chance to give them a test drive.
Here's to 2017 being a BIG YEAR!! :-)
Thank you all! Please follow us on our social media feeds (buttons located at the bottom of this email) and check out our website: www.winternightgames.com. We will be providing higher resolution versions of the key art for both projects shortly that you all can download if you desire!
