Tim Haran | Utah Beer News

Hello and welcome to the Utah Beer News email update. Several new subscribers have joined up since the last message hit inboxes in late June. Thank you for subscribing!

Whew! Summer is in full swing and that means the beer (and beer news) is flowing. It seems every day a new beer-related event pops up. I recently attended three such events over the course of four days! I'm not complaining.

Aside from individual brewery events and ongoing series (such as Hops on the HillBlues, Brews & BBQ, and Hops Hunters Hikes), a couple annual events are on the docket for August. The Food Truck & Brewery Battle happens Aug. 4 at The Gateway. And then, of course, there's the two-day Utah Beer Festival — featuring 50+ breweries and 200+ beers — that takes place at the Utah State Fairpark Aug. 18-19.

I hope to see you at an upcoming event!
Since Utah Beer News is still relatively new (two months strong!) to a lot of folks, here's a quick note about me (if you read this last time, feel free to scroll to the good stuff).

My name is Tim Haran. I started in late April 2018, though the official launch came in mid-May. My background is in journalism and social media (read my full bio). My hope is that the site will become a place to not only provide the latest Utah craft beer news, but also a spot to read (and hear and view) compelling stories centered on the craft beer community.

And now here's a look at what's happening at Utah Beer News...

New Logo!

Also in July, we unveiled the official Utah Beer News logo. We contracted with Artem Designs on the logo and we're thrilled with how it turned out. We're working on getting our very own beer stickers, so keep an eye out (and reserve some space on your kegerator).

Thank you to everyone who participated in last month's giveaway. Congrats to Andrew H. and Shari G. The lucky winners each received a logo item from their favorite Salt Lake City-area breweries (RoHa for Andrew and Uinta for Shari). Keep reading to learn more about our next giveaway.

Beer Events in Brief

I mentioned I attended three beer-related events in four days recently. What a blast! It started with the Evanston Brewfest on Saturday, a Hops Hunters Hike on Sunday, and then the annual Pie & Beer Day festivities on Tuesday.

An upcoming podcast episode will feature audio from all three events. Make sure you're subscribed!

Thank You!

I’m thrilled about the response Utah Beer News has received so far! Thank you again for subscribing and please let your beer-loving friends know about us.
Last month I rewarded our initial subscribers with a fun little giveaway. This time, I'd like to see what beers you're enjoying. Send an email to by July 30, 2018 with your favorite beer-of-the-moment as well as your Untappd handle (even if we're already connected). Two random winners will again receive a logo item from their favorite Salt Lake City-area brewery. I'll announce the lucky recipients on Utah Beer News social media in early August.
