Senior and Middle School Triathlons

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week both the senior and middle school classes held their triathlon. This was a great practice event for our Ironkidz triathlon that is coming up in a weeks time. Pictured above are the senior school getting ready to participate and Ferg and Gus from the Middle School just after they had completed their event.

Ironkidz - Sunday 26 February 2017

It is just over one week before one of the most major events on our school calendar - the 2017 Ironkidz triathlon!
Besides your child/rens participation in the actual triathlon, or the splash 'n' dash, we need your help! There is a huge logistical effort that goes into making an event like this run well and the organising committee would love your commitment to volunteer on the day.

If you are interested in committing to this please click the email button below:

Start of Year Goal Setting & Connection meetings

This is one of the opportunities for our teachers to hear from you about your child. That shared connection and understanding between home and school is imperative to successful learning!
These are scheduled to happen, similar to last year, at a range of different times over the third and fourth school week (20-24 Feb) (27 Feb - 3 March) and include sessions before school, near the end and at the end of the school day, and some evening slots.

Now bookings are open, go to the website and follow the onscreen instructions to make a booking for each of your children.

Last night we had our first board meeting for the year. One of the first actions the board conducts at the start of every year is to nominate and elect the Chairperson. This year Grant Gaston was nominated and elected to that position. Grant, and his wife Natalie, have twin boys at school - Flynn and Ryder - who are in Year 3. Grant joined the board last year and brings a valuable perspective to the board table. We congratulate Grant on his election and we look forward to the leadership he will bring to the board in his position as Chairperson.
Special thanks to our outgoing Chairperson - Kevin Insley for his dedication to the Board of Trustees in that role over the last three and a half years. Kevin has led the Board successfully through a period of change. His positive and supportive approach to working with myself in my role as Principal has always been highly appreciated. Kevin will continue to serve on the board as a board member until his term ends at the end of the year, when two elected positions will become available. Until then, keep an eye out for Kevin on the BBQ at Ironkidz and other school events!

School Vision update...

Thank you to all the people who gave feedback to the initial draft proposal of the School Vision logo and catchphrase. We are currently working through this feedback. We want to get this as authentic, and connected with our place and our community (learners, teachers and parents) as possible! Watch this space!
We welcome all our new families.  We have a School Lunch System that runs where you can place orders in the Library from 8.30am each morning.  We have a wide variety of food and drinks available.  On alternate Thursdays we have either Sushi or Subway available.  Please come in and check us out.
Also our supply cupboard of snacks for children who forget their lunches is running a bit low.  If you would like to help us by donating to this cause, we would really appreciate it.  We have plenty of breakfast cereal at the moment.  If you are donating bars could they please have no nuts in them as we have children who are allergic to nuts.
Thank you for your support.
Welcome back to a new year at Waipahihi School and a very special welcome to all the new families. We look forward to getting to know you and your families.
