This week is Conservation Week and the theme is ‘Healthy Nature Healthy People’. There are many great ideas how families can Join the Team, get out into nature and be part of protecting our environment for future generations. Go to http://www.doc.govt.nz/conservationweek/ for further information about events and competitions that are happening.
Here are some of our Waipahihi children getting involved in constructing a mini greenhouse, planting seeds with the propagation team, gardening, planting vegetables, working on a litter programme, hunting for insects, discussing conservation ideas and creating some origami native birds for a mural.
What could you do to Join the Team this Conservation Week?

The children in Team Ruapehu really liked the idea of the chess tournament. We would like to play our own games, but we need your help. If you have a chess set you would like to donate to us, we would be able to have our own tournament. Please give your kind donation to your class teacher.
Next Thursday, 22 September, Mahi Tahi (Rooms 19 & 20) will be selling cupcakes for $2 each.
They are raising money for the sandpit in the Middle School area. The cupcakes are DELICIOUS,
so make sure you remember your $2.00.
A number of our students played in the New Zealand Junior Rugby Festival was held in Taupo last weekend. Our amazing results were -
* the U11 team took out their grade (Lleyton Harris (C), Zach Harrison, Dougal Mackintosh)
* the U10 grade won their grade (MJ Harris)
* the U9's were runners up in their grade (Shakur Cook, Blake Flavell-Painter)
CONGRATULATIONS to all our Waipahihi boys
On Monday Central Station students took part in a Mini Olympics. There were four team sports - Volleyball, Basetball, Dodgeball & Netball. Points were scored and added up to establish the overall winner. As there were two teams who emerged with equal points, a final of 'Kings & Queens' was played to establish the overall winner. Certificates were given out to those demonstrating the Olympic Spirit of Fair Play, Joy of Effort and Participation and Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were given to the team captains.
We all had a great day!
