A news update from Tim will be linked on the button below each week. This week he shares:
  • A quick update and introduction to Monday night's parent evening - starting at 5.30pm.
  • Monday night includes a free bbq and movie in the staffroom for your children while you're here.
  • Thursday night is Whānau Hui night. This also starts at 5.30pm and is a more informal gathering and is open again to ALL parents, grandparents, caregivers of Waipahihi children to come along and share ideas, find out what's going on in our community, and meet other parents/grandparents who want to make a difference.

Nominations are invited for the election of five (5) parent representatives to the board of trustees.
A nomination form and a notice calling for nominations will be posted to all eligible voters.

You can nominate another person to stand as a candidate, or you can nominate yourself (make sure you sign both parts of the form).
 
Additional nomination forms can be obtained from the school office.
 
Nominations close at noon on Friday 20 May 2016 and may be accompanied by signed candidates’ statements.
 
The voting roll is open for inspection at the school and can be viewed during normal school hours.
 
There will also be a list of candidates’ names, as they come to hand, for inspection at the school.
 Voting closes at noon on Friday 3 June 2016.

Seventy students from Team Pihanga played in the Taupo Rippa Tournament on Tuesday.  Our elite team came 2nd and have qualified for the King Country tournament.
Students measured and built target boards.  Then they measured different distances from the board which enabled them to create both the game and the rules for the game.

If your child is going to be away from school for any reason other than illness, the School Office now requires notification IN WRITING (either email or paper).  
This is a requirement for the new Health & Safety Regulations.

COMMUNITY NOTICES
1st Taupo Scouts are holding a Movie Night fundraiser for Jamboree Camp with a special 3D screening of the new Jungle Book Movie on Saturday 14 May.  Nibbles & drinks from 5.30pm and the movie at 6pm. Tickets available from Starlight Cinema or phone 021-050-8276.

A group of NZ authors have teamed up to get kids writing. 
The idea is that they provide the start of a story and the kids have to finish it. They judge the stories and award prizes. These competitions are open to anyone under 13, and they award prizes for a range of different things so that there's no advantage in being older.    https://fabostory.wordpress.com/

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 on Stage at Taupo nui-a-tia College School Hall at 7pm Tuesday 24th to Saturday 28th May.  Adults $20.00, Child $10.00.  Tickets on sale now from the College Office.
