We have had quite a few cases of headlice in the school recently. Please check your child's head carefully and if you come across any eggs/lice, please treat them. Thankyou.

This week we had Alistair Campbell from Hear4Kidz Trust visit our school to donate a Soundfield System to our school. This will be set up soon in E Toru Tahi. Thank you Hear4Kidz!
Hear 4 Kidz Trust is a local charity that raises money to assist with relieving the financial pressures that are associated with childrens hearing disabilities. In the past we have provided funding to individuals to help families with things like travel, time off work for Cochlear Implant surgery, private swimming lessons, APD therapy and accessories for Cochlear implants that are not government funded.
After Alistair Campbell boosted the trust funds significantly as a result of his fundraising efforts during the King of the Ring last year the trustees decided we would like to use the money to help a larger number of children within the community hence the decision to purchase an Oticon Soundfield system to gift to each of the Taupo and Turangi primary schools. We believe these systems will be valuable in classrooms for both children and teachers. There are lots of children throughout our schools with undiagnosed hearing issues ranging from glue ear to APD and in some cases hearing loss. The system will amplify the teachers voice by ten decibels meaning that all children in the classroom should hear over any background noise. The system will also be beneficial for teachers given they should not need to raise their voices to be heard.
