  • A summary of what the staff worked on last Thursday with the 'staff only day'. The discussion was led by Tony Burkin from Interlead Consultants who specialises in Human Resource Management to approach the challenges of getting the best out of other adults, leading change, developing organisational culture and transforming schools into Learning Organisations (Professional Learning Communities).

ICAS Test entries MUST be in by tomorrow morning, 1 April.
If you would like your child to participate, please contact their teacher.
If your child is going to be away from school for any reason other than illness, the School Office now requires notification IN WRITING (either email or paper).  This is a requirement for the new Health & Safety Regulations.  
Thank you for your co-operation with this.

As part of the preparations for the upcoming Board of Trustee Elections we are required to ensure that everyone who is entitled to take part in the election receives, by post nomination forms and voting papers.

We currently have several parents/caregivers who are eligible but we do not have addresses listed for.   This Election is your chance to have a say in how our school will be governed over the next three years.  If you have changed any details or just wish to check please contact the office to update our records.

This morning the entire Team Pihanga (Seniors) went over to Waipahihi Reserve for an Interclass TBall Competition.  Each class has chosen a colour and will be wearing that.
The final was between Rooms 1 & 2 with Room 1 coming out the winners by one point!!

Yesterday children from Rooms 5 & 6 practied a range of bike skill with Cath from Kids Bike Taupo
'Thumperlina', the Easter Bunny, made a visit to Rooms 5 & 6 last week.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR DENTAL THERAPISTS
The Mobile Dental Unit will be situated at Waipahihi School next term.
Blue Enrolment Forms have been issued to children who are not currently enrolled with Lakes DHB.  If your child brings one of these forms home PLEASE sign it and return it to the School Office as soon as possible.
We will be seeing the classes one at a time.  Please be patient as it is a large roll and all children at school will be checked before we leave Waipahihi.

COMMUNITY NOTICES
Wairakei Tourist Park Locals Day  10.00am – 4.00pm  Sunday 3 April 2016
This is your chance to discover the awesomeness, adventure and action that’s just down the road from home at Wairakei Tourist Park.
Come along and experience the wicked activities the park has to offer. Jet or cruise the river, mountain bike, wake-board, golf, fish for prawns, enjoy a thermal walk, learn more about our volcanoes, buy a souvenir, put the kids on the bouncy castle, get your face painted and enjoy great food. We’ve got you and your family covered.
Make the most of the unique discounts on offer. The day will begin with a Greening Taupo Community Planting day and finish with a sausage sizzle and prize draw at Wairakei Resort, home base for the day. Every family that participates will go into the draw for one of 3 major prizes – Family, Adventure, and Discovery. The total prize pool is worth more than $2000!
 
 
Taupo Junior Rugby registrations will continue to be taken over the next few weeks.
Registration information including forms and payment details are available on http://www.sportsground.co.nz/taupojuniorrugby/73077/.  Alternatively registrations can be taken in person at OD Park, in the downstairs lounge (under main grandstand) on Tuesdays between 1-4pm and Wednesdays between 9am-12pm.  Any queries, please call Gaylene on 027 380 9253.

ADDI is offering a FREE SCHOLARSHIP.  The recipient will get free Literacy tuition from a qualified teacher for the whole of Term 2.  To enter go to www.addi.co.nz.  Registrations close Monday 11 April at 5pm.

Pianist Roman Rydnytsky returns to New Zealand and will be giving a recital at the Great Lake Centre on Wednesday 20 April at 7.00pm.  Adults $25.00 (plus booking fee), Children 14 & under $15.00 (plus booking fee).
Reminder: Biking to School every Wednesday - rain, hail or shine! Meet at the Silver Fish in town with the 'convoy' leaving at 8am! This is for all children (but if you are 5 years old you must have an adult biking with you).
