Waipahihi School Newsletter

17 March 2016

Tena koutou katoa
Nga mihi ki a koutou

A news update from Tim will be linked on the button below each week. This week he writes about:
  • Features of a 'School for Learning' - what does that look like for us as teachers / educators
Other nuts and bolts:
  • In case you're wondering why school is closed on Easter Tuesday? This is a school holiday by law for state and state integrated schools. This means we must be closed on Easter Tuesday.
  • The school bell - You may have noticed that the old fashioned bell has been turned off. Music is now used as a signal to return to class in a relaxed manner. We are finding this to be a much more positive transition back into learning from outside!
  • School Working Bee - now postponed until Sunday 3 April (9am) see detail below

We have had to move this weekend's Working Bee at Spa Park, stacking cobbles, to Sunday 3 April.  We have had issues around access which have been out of our control.  We look forward to seeing you from 9am on the 3 April. Thank you
If your child is going to be away from school for any reason other than illness, the School Office now requires notification IN WRITING (either email or paper).  This is a requirement for the new Health & Safety Regulations.
Thank you for your co-operation with this.
Waipahihi School scored the most points from achieving 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in high jump, long jump, throwing, 100m sprints, 400m & 800m long distance running.  This means that we won the INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS COMPETITION yesterday!  Also  our Girls Relay Team won their event.  CONGRATULATIONS to you all!

Our students come from many different countries, aged between 13-85 and need from 2 to 50 weeks accommodation. Hosting is a great way to learn about another culture.

Some international children enrolled on the Parent & child programmes attend Waipahihi & Taupo Intermediate schools. Their fees, helps your school too.
Student(s) requires own bedroom, study area & 3 meals /day. Good remuneration in return. If you host a parent & child, you receive double home stay payments.
