Dear Ecovillage Community,

It is a time of celebration, amidst the building uncertainties. As projects come to a close and begin sharing their learnings and new resources for the network, our collective work is re-infused into the network. We have a vibrant and full newsletter for you today as we share our 2023 Annual Report, upcoming events, project updates, updates from our regions, and new from our partners in creating a transition to a regenerative human presence on Earth. So, for this month, I will keep it short and let the projects speak for themselves.

In community,
Eva Goldfarb on behalf of the Global Ecovillage Network

We are happy to welcome you to explore the 2023 Annual Report of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN), where we embark on a journey through the vibrant tapestry of regenerative initiatives that shaped our network throughout 2023. As the landscape of sustainability continues to evolve, so too does our commitment to fostering a resilient and sustainable human presence on Earth. Within these pages, you’ll find a mosaic of stories, achievements, and insights that illuminate the path we’ve traveled over the past year. From the grassroots initiatives of our regional networks to the global collaborations forged by GEN International, each endeavor reflects our unwavering dedication to creating a more harmonious relationship between humanity and the planet.

In the past year, within GEN, we candidly assessed the organization’s trajectory and economic resilience, soliciting input from stakeholders at every turn. Attuned to the pulse of our network, we recognized recurring patterns in need of disruption, leading us to streamline our operations and governance for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness as we address our economic vulnerability.

We look forward to sharing some of the innovations we have been working on in the coming months. Until then, enjoy the report!

CASA's DMT (Derechos de la Madre Tierra - Rights of Mother Earth movement) has officially landed in the United States and is headed to Numu Lands in Nevada as part of the Burning Man "Burners Without Borders Spring Summit".

Cultural Attaché for CASA Latina and Baston Guardian, Patty Rangel, will be traveling to Fly Ranch, Nevada with Michelle Wong of Ecovillage Los Angeles, Michael Wittman of Blue Sky Biochar, and Ray Cirino of Jackrabbit Homestead Ecovillage, to share the wisdom of Biochar for agriculture and soil remediation. The aim of the partnership between CASA Latina and GENNA is to unify the Americas from Chile to Canada in solidarity for Mother Earth.
Another dear elder from CASA Latina has passed. We honour her work with words from the elders council.

"What I remember most is a statement she made on an Elders Zoom call, which has become part of my own persona: 'The opposite of despair is not hope. It is commitment.' - I always think of her when I say it." MARTI, Elders Council

"Liora was a saint and a good friend to so many of us in a human body. She always had a kind word and oodles of appreciation, while also being quite frank with her beliefs." - Rob Wheeler, Elders Council
