Dearest Global Community,
As we enter into a new cycle, as marked by the Gregorian calendar, the cracks continue to deepen. Through them, the light of human compassion shines out. In the early days of 2024, those of us who subject ourselves to the woes of the world are heaped with heaviness, with moments of triumph, and with moments of joy. As wisdom keeper, Joanna Macy says, "The most radical thing any of us can do at this time is to be fully present to what is happening in the world."
While the Global Ecovillage Network leans into solutions, the individuals and communities that create this network are comprised of activists and peace workers. Thank you for the collective work to right to wrongs of our colonial and capitalistic-driven "leaders".
As we embark on another year of catalyzing community and sharing the work of the movement, we continue to offer updates and tools from our projects, regions, and partners. We welcome you to help weave the story of the network by letting us know what you would like to see more of in 2024.
"This is a dark time, filled with suffering and uncertainty. Like living cells in a larger body, it is natural that we feel the trauma of our world. So don't be afraid of the anguish you feel, or the anger or fear, because these responses arise from the depth of your caring and the truth of your interconnectedness with all beings." - Joanna Macy, Pass it On: Five Stories That Can Change the World.
