Don't forget - our Pentecost Offering sends a portion of what we receive -- and all the snacks we can muster! -- to the Magic City Acceptance Center.

Day of Pentecost
-- More Light Sunday
9:30 a.m.  Service of the Lord's Day
10:45 a.m. - Summer Sunday School
Grace to you, and peace...

I'm glad to be back in B'ham.

Please join us Wednesday night at 6 for dinner with Alice and her family. The Deacons are providing chicken and some other stuff, and ask that you bring a side, dessert, or drink.

The Central Alabama Pride Parade is on Saturday, and for the fifth consecutive year, EPC will be marching. They start lining up the marchers at 7 p.m., and the first groups hit the starting line about 8.

If any would like to carpool, meet at the church with plans to depart promptly at 6:30. I need to arrive a bit early in order to check in our group, so I will not be part of that caravan, but look for me in clerical collar with the EPC marching banner along 32nd street, north of 7th Avenue when you arrive.

The parade marches up 7th from 32nd to just past 22nd Street. The crowd watching the parade is boisterous and always extremely happy to see the church groups. If you're on the fence, take the leap and march with us. It's a whole lot of fun, not to mention a crucial witness to God's love for all. Wear comfy shoes, bring a friend, and step out in faith.

The next morning we will gather for More Light Sunday on the Day of Pentecost! The movement of the Spirit includes new revelation to the people of God at all times, and so this is a perfect day to rejoice in God's call to be an open, affirming, advocating, welcoming congregation. Elder and Deacon Lynn Bailey will offer a testimony about his experience as part of this church -- and I've gotten a preview might want to bring a tissue or a handkerchief to hear Lynn tell his story.

After worship the kids will head to a revamped Summer Sunday School program. The adults will regather in the sanctuary for our summer study of the book of Daniel. This ancient resistance literature is more than just a story about a lion and three dudes and a furnace. We'll explore the weirdness, the wildness, the provocative writing, and we'll try to relate it to what we face in our world today.

Straight from church I'll be off to Living River for Senior High Mission/Work Camp. I appreciate your prayers for sated mosquitoes, shade, and a fun week of working and learning with some fun teenagers.

Next Sunday will be our annual summer Hymn Sing. Start warming up those pipes!

If you don't usually scroll down past this point, you'll want to see the photo of Philipp and Ute from their wedding this past weekend. We sure do miss that guy!

Peace be with you,
Philipp and Ute had a lovely wedding on Saturday.
We shared lots of love from EPC, and Philipp sends as much back to y'all!
