Sunday, May 5th
Third Sunday of Easter
9:30 a.m. Service of the Lord's Day
10:45 a.m. - Fellowship
11:00 a.m. - Sunday School for kids and adults
Grace to you, and peace...
So much Egg Hunting fun was had on Sunday!
And now we turn to May.
When we gather for Fellowship Supper on Wednesday, summer will be on the mind, indeed. We'll chow down on baked spaghetti and salad. Our special guest will be Jenny Thagard, Executive Director of Living River. Jenny will answer all your questions about Living River's present and future and she'll certainly put in a pitch for joining the fun at Summer Camp.
I'm headed out of town for a brief trip in search of rest and fellowship with friends in Chicago. I leave on Wednesday morning and return Saturday evening. Y'all hold the fort down.
The Men's Bible Study will gather Friday morning to continue a fascinating video series presenting lectures about the prophets from Hebrew Bible scholar Walter Brueggemann. We're really having fun with these videos, and it's not too late to jump in. Hot coffee is ready at 7 a.m.
Satruday aftenroon at 2 p.m. the Birmingham Girls Choir will hold their Spring Concert in our sanctuary. Free admission for EPC members!
May takes us to the Third Sunday of Easter. It seems like we should be getting back to normal -- but is there ever really "normal" at EPC? Resurrection continues to be our theme, and we'll hit three very different, but wonderful, hymns.
Looking down the road a piece:
Just next Wednesday it'll be time for our Talent Show! In conjunction with the festivities, our Senior Highs who are headed to Montreat are asking to contribute "Laughs for Gas." The idea is that if you have fun at the Talent Show, you'll express thanks for it with a contribution to the Youth Fund. Our goal for a successful Montreat trip is $1,500.
On Thursday, May 9, from 6-8 p.m., we are hosting -- and you are invited to -- an informational meeting sponsored by H.I.V.E. Alabama with the Jefferson County Memorial Project. I'll say more as we get closer, For now you can explore their website - http://jeffersoncountymemorial.com.
Finally, I ask for your prayers for Rich and Lara Jesse, who have welcomed their second child, Magnolia Ruth, into the world. Magnolia is on the NICU at St. Vincent's -- and she, mom, dad, and big sister Rose Clare need our prayers for growth and healing.
Peace be with you, Joe
