Brain Power Book Club: Author Alex Andre visited Brain Power to talk about his dystopian teen novel Lost and Found
Brain Power students Alexandra Rebarbar, Arusha Basani, Belle Yuen, Stefan Zorcic, Aryan Ihsan, Ana Milu, and Benjamin Kim were accepted (after a rigorous try-out!) to SHAD 2022!
Shad Canada is a prestigious STEAM and entrepreneurship program for students in Grades 10 and 11.
The month-long program in Canadian universities includes a real-world design challenge that asks students to work on issues such as food security, water management, and waste.

Brain Power students Mahaara Bhimani (junior-high level), Alfie Chan (junior-high level), and Natasha Kudsia (high-school level) are among the students who have been selected to compete in the Speaker's Idol 2022 quarter-finals!

Mark Raspopov Wins Gold and Silver at Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge
Brain Power student Mark Raspopov won GOLD in Ontario and SILVER in Canada at the 2021 Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge!
Mark has also won a variety of other awards over the last few months, including in the American Math Olympiad (AMO) and the International Junior Math Olympiad.
What an achievement!

to Talk about Lost & Found
For our most recent book club, we read a dystopian novel set in Toronto and written by local author Alex Andre.
The book has been on Amazon’s top Sci-Fi dystopian literature list this year!
The discussion was guided by Brain Power staff and the author himself. WOW!
Students got to share their thoughts on the book with fellow brilliant students and ask the author questions too!

Brain Power Alumnus Dr. Dan Nayot's Startup Raises $7.6 Million
Brain Power alumnus Dr. Dan Nayot is a reproductive endocrinologist who is the co-founder and medical director of Future Fertility, a startup with the goal of leveraging AI to improve fertility care, IVF outcomes, and lower the costs associated with them.
Future Fertility recently secured $7.6 million CAD to fuel its research on AI-enabled in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Thoughts on Brain Power: Through Brain Power, I became more confident in myself and in my work. The open environment and positive attitudes gave me the courage to try new things and challenge myself. Brain Power enhanced my confidence and taught me how to think outside the box and come up with new ideas that help me stand out. I learned many valuable lessons that not only helped me in school but also in life.
The Global Youth Challenge is a worldwide competition that consists of public speaking, essay writing, and creative projects that grapple with the topic of artificial intelligence and the impact that it will have on humanity.
Youths from around the world will be required to submit a 300 - 500 word essay plus a one-minute video speech, or a visual artwork plus a one-minute video speech.
Each entry will examine the possible benefits and potential harm and threat that artificial intelligence poses to humanity through different perspectives.
The Alice Munro Festival of the Short Story's 18th Annual Literary Short Story Competition for Emerging Writers is now open.
The Short Story competition is an opportunity for writers to explore the short story, a literary art form made popular by 2013 Nobel Laureate Alice Munro.
YOUTH: $500.00 PRIZE WITH TWO ADDITIONAL SECONDARY PRIZES OF $250.00 EACH.
