An Evening with IRA GLASS! Join Brain Power for an enlightening evening with famous NPR broadcaster Ira Glass at Massey Hall!*
The creator of the public radio show This American Life talks about his program and how it's put together: what makes a compelling story, where they find the amazing stories for the show, how he and his staff are trying to push broadcast journalism to do things it doesn't usually do.
Ira Glass began his career in radio aged just 19 years as an intern for the NPR. This American Life came on air in 1995, and has run ever since with Glass at the helm as the show's host and executive producer.
* Students who intend to travel to the show with Karine (and other staff supervisors), please notify the office of your intent and meet at Finch Station at 6:30 pm on Saturday evening. Supervision will also be provided en route back to Finch Station after the show.

Brain Power's FREE Book Club!
Brain Power's Book Club is FREE for all Brain Power Students!**
Our monthly events are hosted by Brain Power teachers and special guests. Students are encouraged to participate in order to foster a love of reading, analyzing, and discussing great literature.
How it works:
Step 1) Check out our book list (in our newsletters and on our bulletin boards).
Step 2) Choose which month(s) you'd like to join us for our book club event. (If you are not sure of the age recommendation of a listed book, please inquire at the Brain Power office.)
Step 3) Sign up at the Brain Power office for the book club event dates you'd like to join.
Step 4) Get your book from the library (or purchase it) and read it before the book club event date.
Step 5) Fall in love with reading and discussing amazing literature!
** Participation in our book club discussions is always free, though their may be a fee for attending any extra events associated with the monthly reading and discussion (e.g. theatrical performances, films, etc.). That is why students (and parents) should sign up for book club meetings well in advance.
Join Us for Our Next BOOK CLUB! The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury
Sunday, April 30 @ 5:00 pm
(Room 3 at Brain Power)
Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man is a collection of 18 mind-bending and often spine-chilling science fiction stories!
In Bradbury's imaginary worlds, automated houses raise inhuman children with little need for their parents; American refugees flood into Mexico after a nuclear war; a group of missionaries travels to Mars to "redeem" the inhabitants; an unhappily married man buys a robot to replace his wife; someone known as "Jesus" visits the inhabitants of a far-off planet; "rocket men" travel the solar system, but all they want is to stay at home; the inhabitants of an apocalyptic future time travel into the past in an attempt to escape their fate; and a long-dead alien civilization exacts revenge on Earth.
Alumni of the Month: Naomi Brandt
