Brain Power On The Road:

We are proud to be spreading Brain Power vibes all through the city! We've been donating our time and powerful brains by participating in various educational conferences (ex. Association for Bright Children of Ontario, Astronuts Space Camp, and more!) and school fun fairs across the GTA! Thank you to staff and volunteer alumni ambassadors for being awesome representatives of the Brain Power magic!
Highlights from Brain Power's participation in What's Up In Space @ Canada's Largest Telescope - Dunlap Observatory
We had a blast (literally) at the Dunlap Observatory in Richmond Hill on May 14th! The Astronuts Space Camp was phenomenal as many students received the incredible opportunity to talk to astronauts from the ISS and participate in many educational astronomy-related afternoon activities, including hanging out at the Brain Power booth -- with awesome brain puzzles, games, and more.
News: Cambridge University invites our very own Professor Jason Boulet to present on classic Victorian poet, Swinburne, July 29 & 30 in the UK

Featured Alumni of The Month: Daniel Kapustin
My name is Daniel Kapustin, and I was a third year student undertaking the Neuroscience program at McGill University when I began attending Brain Power for educational consulting. From a young age, I dreamed of becoming a Physician and ultimately applied to a number of Canadian medical colleges as I began the second-to-last year of my undergraduate degree. While writing the applications’ essays, the instructors at Brain Power helped to refine my writing, allowing me to produce concise, personal, and thought-provoking responses to the essay prompts. To prepare for the crucial interview stages of the application process, I worked closely with Karine Rashkovsky to hone my body language, speech, and creative thinking skills. The Brain Power team helped to vastly improve aspects of my rhetoric including my speaking confidence, succinctness, and intonation, allowing me to secure a position in the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine’s graduating class of 2020!  (PS Daniel's sister is an awesome student at Brain Power, too!).
Star Students: David Gurevich & Alan Topash and The FACET News Project!

Brain Power junior-high (13 year olds!!!) students WOW us with their new Startup!  Here's an interview with these bright young minds:

What's this new venture you're in? We are making a news/blog website that informs people of the latest tech news, providing them with an insightful opinion on the topic. Our slogan is "Keeping people in the loop of all the facets of technology".

How did you get into this project? Alan texted David asking if he wanted to make a tech news website. David said, "Yeah sure!" A few days later, FACET News began. In all seriousness, though, this idea had been shared between us for a while.

How has Brain Power helped you get to where you are now? Before I joined Brain Power, I had very little confidence in what I wrote, and frequently got writer's block. Brain Power has not only taught me to be more confident in my writing but also to think more about what I write. Make deeper connections, and among other things, write about what people are interested in.

What do you love most about it and what's the most challenging aspect? The fact that we can write articles and state our opinion, and that there are actually people reading our content is an extremely rewarding feeling. Sometimes, though, there are as few as 15 people reading our content a day and it is very hard to be consistent when you think that sometimes, nobody is reading your content. I recently read an article about how 95% of all blogs are abandoned after 4 months. We have recently hit our 4-month "milestone" and we have no plan to quit.

Where do you see yourselves in 5 years? (goals of this project) The first thought that came to mind was expanding to other forms of media. We are planning on launching a YouTube channel where we cover some of our more interesting news. In 5 years we'll be 18, and in terms of running a business, you can't do much at 18, but we definitely plan on possibly hiring more authors, and even turning this "project" into a full-time job.

What advice do you have for other students who wish to be innovators? Just go through with it. What do you have to lose? The internet is amazing and provides everybody with the tools they need to succeed. The only thing stopping you from doing what you want, is yourself and time. Utilize the tools that you have and make something great.

Brain Power's Robotics & Coding students design catapults out of Lego. Wow!

Brain Project Content for Creative Partners
100 sculptures, 100 artists, 1 important cause
It’s time to get creative about brain health.
This summer, the most creative minds in art have joined forces with Baycrest to launch The Brain Project, presented by TELUS, a city-wide art installation featuring 100 brain sculptures designed by artists, designers, fashion brands and celebrities.
The sculptures are on display in more than 50 locations throughout the city. Each sculpture is unique and complex in its own way, much like the human brain.
Visit to discover all 100 brains and meet the artists behind this incredible initiative.
750,000 Canadians are living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
The Brain Project, presented by TELUS, is a bold way to shine a light on age-related diseases like Alzheimer’s and brings awareness to a cause that affects so many and for which there is currently no cure.
Creativity and art can play a fundamental role in your brain health.
Art is a universal language. Many art therapies for the brain exist that can awaken memories, encourage dialogue and inspire the sharing of ideas.
Text “BRAIN” to 45678 to donate $5 and TELUS will match your donation.
Every single person has an aging brain. Baycrest is caring for people affected by brain disease and carrying out the research needed to prevent, delay and one day, cure, these illnesses.
Please donate today and support The Brain Project.

What Are the Secrets for Raising Happily Productive Kids?

In this presentation, Dr. Joanne Foster reveals seven key secrets for going beyond intelligence, in order to help children and teenagers thrive. She discusses how to attune to your child’s personality and changing needs; provide multi-sensory stimulation and learning opportunities; foster intelligence; nurture creativity; cultivate a growth mindset; strive for balance; and respond to what’s central to your child’s well-being. She pays close attention to the implications for busy parents, and provides lots of practical take-home strategies. There will also be a question and answer period, and plenty of time to chat.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful students and parents for an amazing and successful year at Brain Power.

It was both fascinating and inspirational to watch the students grow and further develop into high-achieving, critical thinkers. Thank you to the students for their thoughtful and insightful contributions brought to the classroom each week.

Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful summer vacation.
For those of you not taking summer classes with us, we will miss you.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in September.
