May 18th, 2017
Brain Power student Caroline Cui introduces Emmanuel Jal
The Spirit of Hope Benefit is one of the most iconic fundraising events in the City of Toronto bringing together top business leaders, philanthropists, community and political leaders in a celebration of human rights and freedoms. This year, in addition to former UK Prime Minster David Cameron, former Prime Minister of Canada Brian Mulroney and Canadian Film Producer Robert Lantos were key speakers at the benefit. Brain Power's Caroline Cui presented Emmanuel Jal (South Sudanese-Canadian musician, actor, former child soldier, and political activist) and took the stage to celebrate the UN's Declaration of Human Rights.

It was a beautiful evening full of inspiration and impact to remember - we were honoured to be there alongside these change-makers!

Past speakers have included former Prime Minister Stephen Harper; former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney; former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Tony Blair; President Bill Clinton; President George W. Bush; Vice President Al Gore; Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani; Democratic pundit James Carville; Republican strategists Karl Rove and Governor Mike Huckabee; Australian Prime Minister John Howard; Sirs Elie Wiesel and Salmon Rushdie; and panelists Gloria Borger, Donna Brazile, Robert Gibbs, Alan Dershowitz, Bob Woodward, and David Gergen.
Brain Power's Evening with IRA GLASS!
May 13th, 2017

On Saturday, May 13th, Brain Power students went to see Ira Glass at Massey Hall! “The creator of the award-winning public radio show This American Life talked about his program and how it’s put together: what makes a compelling story, where they find the amazing stories for the show, how he and his staff are trying to push broadcast journalism to do things it doesn’t usually do.”

We had a great time at the event!

Thoughts on Brain Power:

Whether a student dreams to be a scholar, a business person, an engineer, or just about anything, Brain Power will help that student realize his/her potential and develop useful life and academic skills. Karine, Reuven, and their fantastic team at Brain Power do a remarkable job of strengthening the parts of your brain that public education just doesn’t quite reach!
NOTICE TO PARENTS AND STUDENTS
"Heelys" at Brain Power
This is a notice to inform parents and students that we do NOT recommend that students wear "heelys" (shoes with small wheels built into the heels - pictured at right) to Brain Power.

Unfortunately, the shoes can pose a safety hazard in the confines of our classrooms, offices, and hallways. In the interest of the safety of all students we are recommending that students NOT wear "heelys" to Brain Power.
